About

Hi, I’m Josh Patch, an audio engineer, producer, composer, arranger, and multi instrumentalist offering a wide range of music, audio, photo, and video services. My main focus is recording, mixing, and mastering, helping artists bring their music to life with professional sound and attention to detail. Alongside studio work, I also work across post production, composition, arranging, live events, and a variety of audio and visual projects, helping creators take ideas from concept to finished product.

Growing up in Richmond, Virginia, I developed a passion for music that led me to Virginia Tech, where I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Music with a concentration in Music Technology. My background spans a wide range of ensembles including marching band, concert band, orchestra, rock bands, jazz groups, and percussion ensembles, giving me a flexible musical foundation across many styles and settings.

I’ve been playing drums since third grade, and my primary instruments are drum set, acoustic and electric guitar, and auxiliary/Latin percussion. I enjoy learning new instruments and exploring new technology whenever I can, and over the years I’ve expanded into upright and electric bass, piano, synthesizers, drum machines, Arabic oud, frame drum, Akai MPC samplers, and Pioneer DJ controllers. That curiosity gives me a broader perspective as a performer, producer, composer, and audio engineer. In the studio, I move between Pro Tools, Logic Pro, and Ableton, and I rely on tools from SSL and Metric Halo for tracking and mixing.

I’m a part owner of Sound of Music Studios in Richmond, where I run studio sessions, rehearsals, and live events, as well as an internship program where I select and mentor developing engineers. I also work in photo and video production, film scoring, sound design, and music technology education.

At the core, I’m a one stop creative resource across audio, music, photo, and video — always open to new projects, collaborations, and ideas.
